Yesterday morning as I opened the blinds in my girls rooms to get them started for the day I said, “Happy Hump day!”. They didn’t have a clue to what I meant. This is a new concept to my children.

Back in the day…. my teachers would say this every Wednesday because it was the sign that you have made it through half of the week and Friday is coming! It let you know that it was down hill from here..to some degree.

I have been teaching the girls this slogan to help them actually gain momentum for finishing up their week with excitement!

Yesterday morning when I mentioned this saying, one of the girls decided we needed to come up with a better term for this “Wednesday – Hump Day Philosophy.” I mean really Mom!

She said, “Lets make it Mountain Day!”

“What?”

Her comment actually gripped me because I don’t like to climb mountains. Humps seem a little more manageable to get over.

Don’t get me wrong…I love The Mountains. I love to look at them, experience them and visit them…but climbing up them isn’t one of my favorite top 10 things to do!

I do better when I know I can attain the goals I have set. Don’t we all? That seems easy enough. However, sometimes God has other goals that He is putting in front of me that can seem daunting and overwhelming.

As my daughter mentioned this name change for our Wednesday outlook, I immediately heard God refer to something of a mountain that He has been whispering to me in the last 6 months. These newer goals seemed so large and big like a mountain.

Later in our morning when we got in the car, the girls and I read our Jesus Calling for Kids devotional. This was the message that it presented.

“Psalm 91:11 For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.”

I know how much that future mountain worries you. But it may not even be part of our path. You don’t know what will happen today, much less tomorrow. I may suddenly turn you away from the mountain, or show you an easier path. But I promise that if I ask you to climb that mountain, I will give you everything you need to reach the top. My angels will protect you. And I will be right by your side every step of the way.”
