Psalm 84:10-12
“One day spent in your house, this beautiful place of worship, beats thousands spent on Greek island beaches. I’d rather scrub floors in the house of my God than be honored as a guest in the palace of sin. All sunshine and sovereign is God, generous in gifts and glory. He doesn’t scrimp with his traveling companions. It’s smooth sailing all the way with God of the Angel Armies.” ~ the Message
I have never visited the Greek Island beaches…I bet it is something spectacular!
this beautiful place of worship…
All sunshine and sovereign is God, generous in gifts and glory…
The part of this scripture that I GET is where it states:
I’d rather scrub floors in the house of my God than be honored as a guest in the palace of sin.
Scrubbing floors? Really? But the way I interpret this is saying I would rather follow Jesus and the radical things He may ask me to walk through… than do my own way and suffer the consequences of Him not being there.
Sometimes I have to let go of the good life in order to get BETTER.
Letting go of habits that take place in that palace of sin. I don’t even want to grace the threshold of that kind of Palace anymore.
Sometimes that Palace of Sin’s doorway is hard to walk away from. There are even some people who don’t believe this is possible.
“Amy, you don’t know my stuff…”
“That would take a miracle.”
Scripture tells me that in His courts…
- We have been forgiven.
- We can experience unspeakable Joy based on WHO God is.
- There is Supernatural Peace for every believer who invites Jesus to come walk with him.
- You can walk with Jesus everyday because the same Holy Spirit that walked with Jesus through those 3 years of ministry on this Earth – resides in you if you have died to self and allowed Him to lead your life.
- I would rather be in a boat with Jesus in the middle of a storm than be on the shore without Him!
The last part of this scripture makes me smile.
“He doesn’t scrimp with his traveling companions. It’s smooth sailing all the way with God of the Angel Armies.”
I’ve always like traveling with God because He doesn’t cut around corners or even say, “Oops! Forgot about you and what you were going through…”
He doesn’t skimp!
Now I will leave you with another version {but wasn’t the message a cool way to look at this?}
Psalm 84:10-12 (NIV)
“Better is one day in your courts
than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
the Lord bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold
from those whose walk is blameless.
Lord Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you.
So how do we have that One Day with God…continually? I want to tell you how I think we can do that Friday. So come back because I think you might be quite surprised at how easy God makes it.
Blessings,
