What Am I To Do for You Today, God?

I have this friend that is walking through a tough time. Her husband has cancer.

She is one of those acquaintances that you see through social media the ups and downs of walking through something hard. We have exchanged texts and messages with encouraging words. I know that she is surrounded by so many strong believers because what she is pouring out…doesn’t just come natural.

She gets it! She sees the God that desires to heal her husband. She sees how God can work through the impossible.

Pure faith.

Each week my husband and I meet with a group of believers that we call our life group. It is because through this group, we do life together. Encouraging one another through trials and triumph’s in our lives. This week we were on the topic of faith. Well…we have been for several weeks.

One of the comments made this week was…

“Authentic faith in God believes when everything seems impossible.”

Abraham of the Old Testament believed in the impossible. He was given the name of “the father of many,” yet, when he was one hundred years old he still had no signs of any children. I think I would begin to doubt at this point.

Romans 4:20 -NKJ “Abraham did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God.”

Doubting is a tool the enemy uses to get us derailed from our faith in God.

Doubting in the Hebrew means diakrino (dee-ak-ree-no) and it means, a conflict with oneself, in the sense of hesitating, having misgivings, doubting, being divided in decision-making, or wavering between hope and fear.”

Really…fear and doubting is the opposite of faith.

Even though Abraham believed in the impossible – it doesn’t mean that he had all the answers. Many times we do not either, but God calls us to walk by faith. Abraham still wasn’t perfect – He messed up…remember the Hagar story? He still got ahead of God, but that doesn’t mean he lost faith in God. His faith didn’t diminish…instead it strengthened.

My overcomer friend that I spoke about earlier in this post recently said this…

Tonight, I was reflecting on this journey of ours and I continue to be amazed by our blessings. We have had people ask us why does God give people cancer? I’m not sure of that answer, but I know it is all on how you handle what is given to you. It is never the question of why, but the question of “what” that makes changes. “Why” is perceived as doubt where as “what” is perceived as the first step in solving a problem. Our “what” question from the very beginning has been,”God, What are we to do for you with this journey?” Boy, has He answered that question for us numerous times. Some of his requests have been quite simple, while others have pushed us out of our comfort zone. With each request, we have been blessed. Have we been an excellent listener? Not at all. We are human and thank goodness He knows that and gives us second chances. Sharing is one request that is not easy, but I am learning that sharing is what we are supposed to do. My friends, each day is a journey designed by God for a special purpose to bless us all. So take a moment or two each day to just ask, “What am I to do for you today, God!” Then patiently wait and listen. The answer will come. It may seem strange, but I promise you will be blessed. Thank you friends for the continued prayers for our family. Peace, prayers and blessings!!

Would you continue to walk by faith when we look at the WHAT instead of the WHY! This message was meant for me and my family as well. Thank you guys for just walking along with us!

While putting together this post a song came on the radio really confirmed in me the message that God continues to teach me. So…I googled the lyrics and found this by Love and The Outcome called “He is with us”.

There’s a hand stretched out through your deepest doubt
We can’t pretend to see the ending or what’s coming up ahead
To know the story of tomorrow
But we can stay close to the One who knows

We can trust our God
He knows what He’s doing
Though it might hurt now
We won’t be ruined
It might seem there’s an ocean in between
But He’s holding on to you and me
And He’s never gonna leave, no
He is with us, He is with us
Always, always
He is with us, He is with us
Always

We believe there is purpose, there is meaning in everything
We surrender to His leading
He wants nothing more than to have us close

We can trust our God
He knows what He’s doing
Though it might hurt now
We won’t be ruined
It might seem there’s an ocean in between
But He’s holding on to you and me
And He’s never gonna leave, no
He is with us, He is with us
Always, always
He is with us, He is with us
Always

Our faith is sealed
Our hope is real
Come what may
We’re not afraid
Our faith is sealed
Our hope is real
Come what may
We’re not afraid
We’re not afraid

We can trust our God
Always, always
We can trust our God
Always, always.

Here is the video from the song. It just makes me want to shout…

“I TRUST YOU GOD! EVEN IN THE IMPOSSIBLE!”
