Jehovah- Rapha

Tonight I googled “Jehovah Rapha” and found this great description through this blog.

“Jehovah Rapha – The Lord our Healer heals all our troubles. He heals all our sicknesses, and He heals our souls.

We tend to associate healing with the physical body. When someone asks you to pray for them, they usually ask for physical healing. Yes, God heals our bodies. He can heal miraculously through His Divine nature, or He can heal through doctors and modern medicine. God also bestows the gift of healing onto certain people, usually called faith healers. Healing can be in an instant, or over a period of time. One thing we can be certain of is that God in His wisdom and mercy performs His healing to perfection. God also heals our troubles. He wants us to take our problems to him, whether they be financial, emotional, or our relationships. God also heals our souls. We are not just flesh. We are made up of three parts. We have a mind, a body and a soul. God wants us to be whole, complete and unless each part of our being is not aligned properly, we cannot function properly. God wants us to have health, joy and peace.

“When Jesus came into Peter’s house, he saw Peter’s mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him. When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: ”He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases.” Matt. 8:14-14

It was God who brought Israel to Marah. He brought them here to teach them and to make Himself known to them, and to teach us and make Himself known to us. (I Cor.10:11) as Jehovah-Rapha – ‘the Lord that healeth thee” (Ex. 15:25-26).

Psalms 30:2 ”Oh Lord my God, I called to you for help and you healed me.”

“Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.” Prov. 12:18

————————————-
I learned about this name for our God years ago. It was many times the name that I clinged to. Today it is no different.

I wanted to share a story that ministered to me in the depths of my soul as we began our journey out to Texas on Saturday.

We had arrived in Atlanta and asked immediately for a wheel chair as Kevin’s ability to walk with the back pain was becoming worse. We rolled down the concourse and went immediately to our next gate to rest for about 2 hours in between flights. There were actually benches where you could stretch out your legs which was a huge help for Kevin. He walked a couple of chairs down the row and took his computer to do some reading.

Kevin is a man who needs his time alone – so I could tell this was one of those times.

I noticed a man sitting across from him. When I walked by him, I overheard his phone conversation and he mentioned, “God told me to do it.” Obviously, speaking about something that had happened previously.

I began listening to my praise music and trying to just block out my surroundings. At one point, I looked up and saw this same man approach Kevin and begin to talk with him. They were smiling and I could tell that Kevin was telling him where our journey was headed.

I did a double take about 1 minute later and this man was standing over Kevin with his hand on his shoulder. They were praying. I began to weep as God whispered to me – “This was your first angel.”

You see, ten years ago, God allowed us to meet many angels while at Shands. They were individuals that ministered to us in such special ways. We have already begun praying that God would do the same with this journey.

Later, Kevin told me to walk with him down the concourse just a bit. I said, “where are we going?” He said, “I want to introduce you to that guy… Amy, he was on his way home from attending a healing conference out in California and he lives in Colorado.” He said that he didn’t know why he sat down at our gate when his gate for his next flight was two gates over.

The man was nowhere to be found.

This is when I began that day to feel the Peace of God like none other. God does provide ministering spirits to us that will help us along on this journey called life. This may sound crazy to some but all I can say is they are real to me.

Monday is the brain scan and the numbers for the Alpha Beta Protein should begin to come down. We need those numbers to come down drastically!

We still want God to intervene and Kevin to have no nausea. They are monitoring it quite well with meds.

Thank you again for all your prayers and encouraging words. They lift us up higher than you will ever know.

Leaving you with a song that a friend sent to me while we boarded our plan in Valdosta. I must have listened to it a thousand times Saturday!

  1. Amy, I have not stopped praying for you and Kevin since I heard of your trials. You are such a passionate writer. I feel so much emotion as I read each word. May God bless and keep you in the shelter of his wings.

  2. Glory to God…your first angel, so soon, so obvious. Praying your heart will rest, knowing there will be many more in the background, even if your attention is focused on Kevin! Praying for y’all this morning.

  3. Oh, Amy! What a beautiful story and what an amazing God we have!! I am praying for you and Kevin and I know there will be many more angels to come!! We give God ALL the praise and glory! Just rest in the shelter of the Most High wrapped in His love and peace.

  4. Thank you so much for sharing this story with us. I love that you have angels blessing you along this journey. I love how precious God is to love you so gently and completely. Praying, faithfully.

  5. Amy,
One of the things you & I talked about was praying that God would flood your mind with scripture you had hidden in your heart from years past. I can’t get this hymn out of my head that I remember singing for years…. I am standing !!!! With you and For you!!! Love you my sweet friend

Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.
    Refrain:
    Standing, standing,
    Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
    Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises I now can see
    Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
List’ning every moment to the Spirit’s call,
Resting in my Savior as my all in all,
Standing on the promises of God.

  6. I believe you are right about angels here on Earth. I had them during my fight with cancer 18 years ago. If Kevin has nausea, I pray that you use it as a reminder that the chemo is very busy doing what is supposed to be doing to help heal Kevin. Many people are praying for you here on the home front. Take things one step at a time. We love you.

  7. Amy, I want to share these “Small Straws” with you. As we are bombarding Heaven I felt led to share with you what I hear in the spirit realm… Pay attention, and watch for signs in the natural that confirm what I am doing spiritually. When I give you instruction and direction, I will confirm it with signs following, says the Lord. It is up to you to believe and respond accordingly. However, you cannot be a gate-crasher. You must wait for doors of opportunity to both open and close. It is to your great advantage to stay in the flow of the Spirit. Mark 16:20 And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs.

This is no time to get earth bound or to be distracted by problems and worries. It is a time to release your concerns to me and trust that I will give wisdom and show you the way of resolution. Your faith will be like the wind that will lift and carry you like a bird into the realm of spiritual destiny. Get your priorities in order, and seek My face, says the Lord, and I will give you eternal perspective. Isaiah 40:31 But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

You have come to this point in your walk with Me many times, but have stopped short of the fullness of what I have prepared for you. This is very much like crossing the river into the promised land. The land has already been given to you, but you must take it. Will it take effort? Yes. Will it be a fight to overcome the enemy? Yes. Will it be worth it? Yes. Put aside your fears and trepidation, and trust Me that I will strengthen you for the journey and be with you in the fight, says the Lord. Deuteronomy 27:3 … when you have crossed over, that you may enter the land which the LORD your God is giving you, ‘a land flowing with milk and honey,’ just as the LORD God of your fathers promised you.

I love you my dear Sister … Be Encouraged and know this “GOD’s Got THIS”
    In His Service,

    Calissia

    • Dear Amy,
As I was beginning my prayer journey for you and Kevin and your family in this battle you are engaged in, I prayed that God would send you a word through someone. He has through Calissa. I do praise him and I shall use this as a stratregy to pray for your circumstances. God is so good. I love you and know that the greater thing in all of this is the faith that your entire family grows for the pursuit and pleasure of our Father that His Kingdom may expand and press against the darkness that has come against you. Take heart dear sister, the Lord your God is indeed your healer! We rejoice by faith to know that the healing stripes of Jesus have given Kevin the victory in this battle against his life. We declare this over his life by faith! Love and blessings, Gail

  8. Amy…Jennifer made sure I read this particular blog and I say to you that while at Shands last week with Zach waiting on them to amputate his hand he saw angels. He described them clearly and he knows as I know that they are real. You continue to be in my prayers…

  9. Amy, I, along with Chanda, Sherry, and Len are praising God for His presence, His power, and His protection. The Lord reminded me of what one of His angels told us when we were in the hospital with Mama. Read and claim Psalm 91 and do it often! As you know, there is such power in His word! Love you two, Shannon

  10. Amy, you don’t know me, but I met Sharon Connell Sunday at lunch and she told me about you and Kevin so we could pray for ya’ll and see your writings. I gave her a copy of my book “Thank God for Cancer” for ya’ll. She will get it to you. I hope our story will encourage you and Kevin. We encountered angels at MDA. My wife is 11 year survivor.

  11. Amy, I just want you to know that we are in constant prayer for you and Kevin and the girls. I have no doubt that God will see you all through this as he did 10 years ago. Hang tight to each other and to the Lord. Thank you for taking your time to keep all of us updated.

  12. Let him know I’ll have the fishing pole ready when he’s back home healthy. Praying for you and yours. Take care my friends.

  13. Amy and Kevin, please know that you all are in my constant thoughts and prayers. Tonight I e-mailed several EABC youth friends (via Facebook) from back in the 80’s, and asked them to add Kevin to their personal and church prayer lists and linked them to this blog. Please tell Kevin that when he’s feeling better, we’re going to have a reunion and eat some of those “mustard donuts” of Hoot’s!! Please let us know where we can send cards, etc. of cheer.

  14. As the Chemo works in Kevins body tonight
and the nights to come, remember that is the blood
of JESUS CHRIST! From this moment on
It should be called the healing blood of Jesus!!!
    Pslam 37:5 Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:
1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because
    he cares for you.
