Steady My Heart

I want to share an excerpt from Jesus Calling that God used to minister to my heart this weekend. He is showing me how to let Him Steady my heart.

“TRUST ME ONE DAY AT A TIME. This keeps you close to Me, responsive to My will. Trust is not a natural response, especially for those who have been deeply wounded. My Spirit within you is your resident Tutor, helping you in this supernatural endeavor. Yield to HIs gentle touch; be sensitive to His prompting.
Exert your will to trust Me in all circumstances. Don’t let your need to understand distract you from My Presence. I will equip you to get through this day victoriously, as you live in deep dependence on Me. Tomorrow is busy worrying about itself; don’t get tangled up in its worry-webs. Trust Me one day at a time.”

And then I go back to the first line again….trust me one day at a time.

I love that!

All we are called to do is trust Jesus today. Take care of today.

Sometimes…I get overwhelmed with just that!

Last week, I shared with you a song from Kari Jobe that touched me. Well, in the process of searching through YouTube…I found where Kari Jobe had recorded the videos for all of the songs on her newest album. We have had some sweet moments at my house watching these videos over and over. We finally decided that we just needed to download the whole CD. It has ministered to our soul this weekend!

This morning I played “Steady my Heart” for the girls at breakfast…and said – this is this week’s theme song for me! They smiled…”you say that every time Mom!”

Now, don’t get me wrong…(for those that know me well) – things are not falling apart around here…Praise the Lord! But, I know that there will be days when Jesus wants to take us through those twists and turns to teach us more how to rely and trust in Him.

Today, I am praising Him because I know this to be true. These times bring encouragement when it does start to crumble.

Here are the words to Kari’s song…

Wish it could be easy
Why is life so messy
Why is pain a part of us
There are days I feel like
Nothing ever goes right
Sometimes it just hurts so much

But You’re here
You’re real
I know I can trust You
Even when it hurts
Even when it’s hard
Even when it all just falls apart
I will run to You
Cause I know that You are
Lover of my soul
Healer of my scars
You steady my heart

I’m not gonna worry
I know that You got me
Right inside the palm of your hand
Each and every moment
What’s good and what gets broken
Happens just the way that You plan

And I will run to You
You’re my refuge in Your arms
And I will sing to You
Cause of everything You are

He is the…
Lover of my soul
Healer of my scars
He steadies my heart.

Blessings,

  1. Jesus Calling is one of our favorite devotionals – we have used it for almost three years now. Thanks for sharing.

  2. What a beautiful song! I love Kari Jobe… and this is the first time I’ve heard this one. I’ve been hurting this week, and it was such a blessing to read your words and listen to this song. Thanks for linking up! 🙂
