Our REACTION Determines our REACH

I have had something stirring in my spirit in the last couple of days. I couldn’t really put my finger on it but Monday everything seemed to be laid out as perfect as you please by the Holy Spirit. Which is just how He does it right!?

I am continually amazed at how God downloads these things that I am to post here on this blog. Today’s post as well as the next (which I hope is later this week) will hopefully both make sense to someone out there.

Have you ever felt like you were stuck in repeat mode? (I would say a broken record but that would show my age.) It seems like there are themes in which God sometimes has me teaching over and over with my children. Sometimes as I get tired of saying the same scripture over and over to them while teaching certain concepts and then I realize that maybe I am the one that the Lord is trying to help “get it!”

This all began to come to a head Monday when I got the blog post of from a friend. So I will begin there.

I am just beaming with PRIDE to share this news with you. My friend Lysa TerKeurst humbly accepted an invitation to speak at Elevation church for this past weekend! I am so proud of her and the places that God is using her.

If you have read my blog for any length of time you know how much I ADORE this church that she spoke at and the messages that Steven Furtick puts out there just blow me away sometimes. God uses his messages to mess with me. (In a good way of course.) They challenge me. I love when God uses His servants to do that!

I can only imagine the butterflies that were busy with excitement on the inside of her as she prepared for this event. I mean…she was the Sunday morning preacher at a church that has over 8,000 people each Sunday in attendance! That would be classified as HUGE in my book.

You can read her blog post HERE and in it is a link to the sermon that she did this past Sunday. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear her message! Her message is part of my story today too.

Lysa gave a similar message last year at the She Speak Conference I attended. During her message last July, I was moved to tears. One, because of how the Holy Spirit was stirring in me to stay connected to this ministry (Proverbs 31), but also the words of this message hit so close to home. They seem to be a recurring theme in my life.

YOUR REACTION DETERMINES YOUR REACH ~

This is a message that I am continually teaching my daughters. Our reaction determines our reach for Christ. Oh! How convicting that is to hear. We have to be Jesus in our every day situations.

When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.

Rejoice in the Lord ALWAYS!

No matter what circumstances you are in right now, we have to realize that how we react to those situations sometimes is key in how others see Jesus in us.

Lysa tells a story that happened just a few short years ago when her and her husband, Art, lost all their savings in an investment that went bad. I know there are many people in this economy that can relate to this. This scenario may even hit home to you now.

What a place to be where you are faced with a choice, in whatever situation that you are facing right now, that reaction to the situation is either making you Bitter or Better. Our reaction determines which camp we lie in.

The message of our “reaction can determine out reach for Christ” is one that has seemed to be coming up quite a bit in our conversations lately with our girls as well. I am continually telling them to be careful of their reactions. Think before you react. Once our reactions are put out there, it is way harder to retract it.

I am convinced that it is even much harder when you become an adult. Wouldn’t you agree?

My next post will show you some actual hard evidence of how God is trying to nail this message home with me. You will be amazed at how many clues He drops in my life with the same theme! Be sure to check back or better yet…if you haven’t subscribed to this blog to receive updates to your email when I post, then be sure to enter your email in the box at the top right of the page. I love new friends!

Please leave a comment today and let me know what you were challenged with in Lysa’s sermon! I would love to hear how God may “mess” with you through her message.

  1. […] I was telling my husband the other day, God’s timing is something I am learning not to argue with. He LITERALLY knows what He is doing. He always has in my life, and always will. I have learning pouting and screaming because of circumstances does not solve anything…going to Jesus who already knows is where my reaction needs to be. […]
