We are home after our last chemo treatment!!!
The smells, the sounds, even the business of life…it is all good!
This morning, I woke with an excitement of what the Lord was wanting to share with me during my time at His feet.
I’ll admit…Some mornings {ok..most mornings!} the enemy’s voice can burst out louder than my Savior’s.
I hate it when that happens!
My first words that I read this morning as I sat at the feet of Jesus were…
-
“Rest in My Presence, allowing Me to take charge of this day. Do not bolt into the day like a racehorse suddenly released. Instead walk purposefully with Me, letting Me direct your course one step at a time. Thank Me for each blessing along the way; this brings Joy to both you and Me. A grateful heart protects you from negative thinking. Thankfulness enables you to see the abundance I shower upon you daily. Your prayers and petitions are winged into heaven’s throne room when they are permeated with thanksgiving. In everything give thanks, for this is My will for you.”
That analogy of the racehorse…{achem’}…that is ME most mornings. I have to focus on getting my coffee and going straight to my place where I sit and talk with God. Some days, I have to repeat the words…“just get to the feet of Jesus.”
I have a weakness…I want to control things. I want to know the plan. Then, I can set the course. So just like this racehorse, I want to begin planning my day when I wake up.
I have learned, it is not about my control of my day, but His.
I can use this weakness for Him to make me strong, but the hardest part of the journey is just realizing and remembering that it’s not about my plan…but HIS.
“Some of My children I’ve gifted with abundant strength and stamina. Others, like you, have received the humble gift of frailty. Your frailty is not a punishment, nor does it indicate lack of faith. On the contrary, weak ones like you must live by faith, depending on Me to get you through the day. I am developing your ability to trust Me, to lean on Me, rather than your understanding.”
“Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.” Proverbs 3:5 {AMP}
-
“Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak
and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:28-31
I absolutely LOVE these verses and take great comfort in the fact that I am not meant to comprehend His understanding! But, I am an overcomer because the part about God giving power to the weak and strength to the powerless..yes my friends…that is me…and you. It is in those moments that I soar high on wings like the eagle.
The last part of that scripture is our prayer request today…
Kevin’s strength has been depleted.
“They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”
Now, Kevin hasn’t ever been a runner…at least since I have known him in 20 years, but walking a couple of hundred feet this week would be a great feat. We are claiming these verses right now, because we know that God will allow his strength to come back.
We are walking with a thankful heart just knowing all the many side effects that he does not have. We feel the Lord’s protective hand over him through this.
Please continue to pray:
* for Peace to flood our souls.
* order and not chaos.
* strength daily
* restful hearts in the midst of the storm
* constant prayers of thanksgiving as this combats the negative thinking that wants to creep in.

I am praying your requests! It was so good to see you yesterday. We love you!
Amy and Kevin, I’m so glad that you are home where you are surrounded by those who love you. Years ago, I read a small book by a missionary called “The Bush is Burning” about God’s direction in the midst of things we do not understand. She started each day with a simple prayer: “Good morning Lord. This is YOUR day. I am YOUR child. Show me YOUR way.” Notice the first word—our focus for the first thought of the day is GOOD. We will continue to pray for Kevin’s strength to return and for your strength and wisdom as you care for him and your girls. Love, Mrs. A
Amy, I am praying today especially for strength for Kevin. I am praying the whole family will be a thankful family – counting your blessings. That helps us keep our eyes on the Giver – not our circumstances. May you all feel God’s precious Presence today.
Amy, this message is heavensent. Praying for you and Kevin, knowing you are going to Him who is the author of our faith and lives. Each time you write your message, I am weeping because I can relate. God is soooooo good, and as we go to the throne of grace, He alone brings comfort, peace, that precious peace that passes all understanding. As you live this journey, continue to point each life that you touch with the ever-present knowledge of the One that made us, knows the very hairs on our head, and the thoughts before we think them. To God be the Glory!!! Please know I continue to pray for you, not ever knowing you, or your husband, but bonded by the spirit and a faith in our Savior.
Amy and Kevin, you are both such an inspiration to me! I pray that Kevin’ s strength will return soon and that God will continue to heal your body. Amy I look so forward to reading your posts and can’t wait to get the next email. It has been amazing to follow this journey with you both and will continue to pray for you both as you continue. It is so awesome to see what God does in what seems to be the most horrible of circumstances. Thank you for sharing!!
Amy, I lift you before the Father today – I know He has you already tucked into the palm of His hand and He constantly breathes His life and strength into you both. I pray that your gait be steady and sure for you run this race with the heart of a champion. Running with you dear friend, holding your arms up. With love.
So grateful that you can find healing and confirmation in something that ministers to so many others. What a blessing that is!! I feel the same way about my weather passion. I love the ways God ministers to our hearts.
Welcome home! I love you!

I’m so thankful that the Lotd has allowed you to write through all of this and share your journey alongside your husband. You are so encouraging and I admire your dedication to be an excellent wife and a bold woman of God. I am and will continue to place you at the feet of Jesus allowing him to do His perfect will in your lives and through this situation. I know that God is doing great things in you and through you, all the while preparing you for the blessings to come! Much love and continued prayers for you, Kevin, those wonderfully sweet girls, and the family! Blessings!
Amy, I’m always encouraged by your posts! You and Kevin and your girls will continue to be in my prayers. God is taking you THROUGH these difficult times and is being glorified by your attitudes and responses to these circumstances. Praying God will renew Kevin’s strength and stamina.
Amy & Kevin,
So glad you made it home safely! I’m sure your girls and other friends & family are happy to see you. Praying for strength and peace during this transition. Know that you blessed Rich and me greatly when you were here in Houston!

My mom sent me the link to your site and I, as you can see, am playing catch up. Everything happens for a reason and I definitely needed to read this. There’s no doubt God chose today for me to read your entries. I am overwhelmingly blessed by all the post. They are inspiring, encouraging, uplifting in so many ways. You guys are are a walking, blogging 😉 , living testimony and miracle to what God can do. You are running the good race. Stay strong and lift your heads high knowing the throne room of heaven is being stormed with prayers and thanksgiving…for you and BECAUSE of you.
I’m still in tears…happy, broken, much needed tears because God led me here this morning to your graciously honest testimony. Thank you for not keeping silent, for sharing during such a difficult time. The Bible says God comforts us that we may in turn comfort others with that same comfort which He has given us. Sometimes our trials aren’t just for us…they’re for the benefit of others too. Today, the testimony of your response…God’s response to your trial has comforted me and opened my eyes to things that I was struggling with and needed answers to. Please keep sharing your love for God thru your testimony as others see His love for you in it also.
Many thanks and prayers,
Nicole L.
