Birthday’s and Homecomings…It is apart of God’s timing.

Honestly, to be just really transparent with you today… life has been rather crazy. It usually happens in the Spring time for me.

I think it is the time of year when I love the coolness in the air of the morning and then the strong desire to be outside in the dirt with my flowers and vegetable garden. I just want to be other places than where my responsibilities tell me to be. Ever have that happen?

Today is a very special day in our household. 13 years ago today my husband and I was overwhelmingly blessed with the opportunity to walk into parenthood. Our daughter Emilie Grace was born.

Oh… can I tell you how we didn’t know a thing about raising a little girl! *smile* I have to giggle when I think about those days in the beginning weeks that pushed me into realms that were so NEW! I hope we have made some progress in the last 13 years!

I remember thinking while lying in the hospital that first night….”What have we done? We weren’t ready for this!” I fervently prayed for God to give us every bit of guidance that He could muster because I wanted so badly to do this parenting thing the way He wanted me to.

I didn’t want to mess up.

TIming. God Almighty has all of time in his hands. He knew just what He was doing by giving this daughter to us exactly on this date!

He doesn’t allow any circumstance to pass through his hands that He doesn’t know about and sanction.

I bet He giggled too that night on April 20, 1998.

This weekend I have also been processing the death of a friend. I spoke about this friend a couple of weeks ago as I shared with you that this 34-year-old man was fighting to stay on this side of heaven when in God’s timing…He knew He was going to be welcoming Brian home for a HUGE party celebration. I know our Father spoke the words to him of “Well Done my faithful servant!”

The timing of his life to the parents, wife and children of this man was surely something hard to be grasped as well.

Then I read this devotional by Derek Prince and had to share with you. Someone out there might be going through some of the same thoughts about circumstances that are happening in your life and wondering “God, what are you thinking?”

Psalm 31:15 “My times are in your hands…”

What a profound and blessed revelation – that God has absolute control over all the times in our lives. God is the only one in the universe that totally controls time. This is beautifully demonstrated in the heavenly bodies. Countless millions and millions of stars move around in the universe with absolute precision. Isaiah the prophet says that the Lord calls every one of them forth by name and they are all present, not one is wanting.

The sun never rises late or sets early. Astronomers can calculate the exact place of every heavenly body in the remote past, in the distant future. God has absolutely control over time and what David realized when he uttered those words is this: that God has absolute control over the times in our lives. He’s never late. He’s never premature. He has a time for every situation, every circumstance. If we will just commit our lives totally into His hands, we’ll find that our times are in His hands. What a relief from pressure, from strain, to know that God has control over the time element in our lives. Our times are in God’s hands.” {Derek Prince}

Isn’t that beautiful? So no matter what life is throwing your way these days, just know that the God of the Universe knows your situation and is wanting to be the Father that comforts, guides and loves on you through it.

Happy Birthday Emilie-Grace!

Brian, my friend, I know the party in Heaven is FABULOUS!
